HNotes in CCC

If you are familiar with CCC then you probably know about the H-Notes in the estimating system. The H-Notes are listed under each parts group and can have great information when writing an estimate or repair plan. The information in the HNotes could be labor times, included or not included items, or special information as it relates to a part or labor operation. One example is if you are replacing a fender on the 2010 Mazda CX7 the HNotes states that the labor to replace the fender is after the front bumper is removed. Utilizing these notes will increase the accuracy and possibly the profitability of an estimate.

Unfortunately there are times were the HNotes do not match what shows in the estimate. If you look at DEG number 3963 you can see that the HNotes state the time to remove the rear cover is after the tail lamps are removed and the labor to remove the tail lamps are not included in the labor fo rthe cover. Once the end user added the tail lamp R&I to the estimate they showed as included, an obvious error in the system. The DEG submitted the inquiry and CCC looked into the situation then resolved it by updating the database to show the tail lamps as not included in the bumper R&I or R&R just as the HNotes state.

Restraint items are another part of the HNotes that can be very useful. If you look at the same vehicle (CX7) under the restraints group you will see all the items that need to be replaced or checked during an airbag deployment. DEG inquiry 4120 was submitted because the HNotes in the restraints group did not say the diagnostic unit needs to be replaced during a seat belt deployment as stated by Honda. CCC made changes to the database and HNotes to show required replacement items during a seatbelt deployment.

Getting to know and understand the HNotes along with the estimating guide or P-Pages for an estimating system is a good resource to save unnecessary research and can prove to be a good tool when writing an estimate.
