Prolong's technology difference

Financial restructuring and ownership changes caused a bit of friction in Prolong's retail shelf space. But International/Domestic Sales Manager Jeff Victer is out to remind customers and industry players of one key fact — Prolong is still around.

Originally launched in 1995, Prolong changed ownership hands in 2006. The transition caused a four-month dip in shelf space. But the Prolong of today is very different from its past version. "We're not the company we used to be," Victer says. "We're very efficiently run and financially stable." Prolong

Available at Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone and Pep Boys stores — and now select Jiffy Lube locations in California — Prolong mainly touts additive products. Their newest release, Engine Treatment boasts a technology not found in other oil additives.

Dubbed anti-friction metal treatment bonding technology, the advancement allows the additive to be attracted to heat and friction. Meaning, the more heat and friction in the engine, the better Engine Treatment performs, Victer says. Victer sat down with SearchAutoParts.com to further explain the technology.

Prolong is also offering a lifetime warranty incentive to its customers for vehicles aged less than 10 years old and with fewer than 10,000 miles. Prolong is also working in partnership to boost return customer visits at Jiffy Lube by sending email notifications four months after Engine Treatment purchase to remind customers they are due for an oil change.

Going forward, Prolong is looking to grow the brand and re-educate consumers of what it offers.
