This is one of those tips that isn't really high tech, kind of like the Toyota EVAP fix I told you awhile back caused by nothing more than a vent line pulled loose.
In a way, this is the same sort of problem. The Murano uses a multi-piece air boot, with a housing located in the middle. The two boots on either side are JUST long enough to reach, and it doesn't take much to cause one to come loose. When it does, the air passing into the engine is no longer passing through the MAF sensor, and the engine doesn't want to come up off of idle. It may even look attached with a quick visual, so be sure to feel around and check the tightness of the clamps while you're at it.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
I loved the old Monty Python TV show. If you're too young to know what that means, do a Google or rent one of their movies. Anyway, on to the next tip.
I used to do more internal engine repairs than I do today. And whether or not I honed the cylinders myself, I never want to take the chance that there are machining bits left to tear up my new rings. Especially with the tight tolerance on many engines. So, how do I clean the cylinders after honing? With one of the best solvents available...hot, soapy water. And to get it squeakly clean, I use a toilet bowl brush for the cylinders.
GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES!
One last tip for today. Sometimes circumstances require that you reach deep into often hot, greasy spots. To help protect yourself, take a pair of old tube socks and cut the toes off. Then slide the socks up your forearms, add a pair of work gloves and protect yourself from potentially nasty burns.
