  • Tim, these reports focus only on the vehicle count. The impact is much greater than that since the vehicles that are totaling are much larger than the average repair size.

    From 2000 to 2008, we may have gone from 10 or 12% totals to 25% totals. Those new totals came predominantly from the repairs larger than $2,500. Those extra 12-13 cars that totaled had average repair values of $5,000 a piece, meaning that the shop lost repairs equaling almost 25% of their previous volume.
