  • 1997 mazda protege with transmission problem

    when driving my mazda 1.5l the overdrive light will start the blink and rpms will go up kicking it into overdrive.  i am getting a speed sensor code.  could this be the problem.

    have you checked for codes yet? could have a defective throttle position sensor or even a bad pcm

    Start your repair process by diagnosing and repairing the speed sensor code.  Look up the code setting criteria...don't just throw a sensor at it.

    The speed sensor code on these transmissions is almost always due to transmission slippage and a new transmission or overhaul is most likely needed

  • Mazda with transmission problem.

    I would first get the code diagnosed, then go from there. I would pull a diagnosis on the code and see what is causing it to come on, if necessary.

    Agree with Jacquesto and Peter, don't throw parts at any problem w/out knowing for sure the symptom will be corrected.

    this problem will be from the transmission slipping.  the computer is throwing a code because it is out of range. 99.9% of the time the electronics cant cause a slip unless the pressure control sol. has a problem and then it is not just going to be in one gear. because it controls line pressure in tranny.
