I love cars!
My first boyfiend was a motorhead and we would go to the races every weekend.
My first husband was an auto technician, and we opened a shop in the barn attached to our house called "Shade Tree Garage".
I now own a full service shop in Vermont called "Auto Craftsmen" (www.autocraftsmen.com) It has 4 lifts, 3 techs & a service rep. We do all repairs & maintenance work + we sell tires. I added a detailing business this summer that is doing well. My shop has very talented techs, and we give superior service by providing great work, the most comfortable waitingroom in the state, a shuttle service & five loaner cars. I'm putting together a "Life Time Warranty" program & will start offering Valet service soon.
I love educating the public about automotive care, safety, and how to buy a used car. I wrote a workbook a couple of years ago: "How To Buy a Great Used Car." Instead of trying to find a publisher to sell to the general public, I sold it to independent shop owners around the country - so they could put their names on my book... this way I made a bunch of money & now I give it away to the general public. I feel it is so important to get it into the hand of folks before they spend any money on a used car. I'm so tired of having to tell folks that the car they bought is worthless. Too many people get ripped off - and it really pisses me off.
I write an automotive column for Vermont Woman Magazine, a monthly newsletter for my customers. I write a blog - www.amysgarage.com/blog & submitt articles to my favorite website: www.askpatty.com. I love teaching Women Car Care Clinics, and am helping the Car Care Council's Women's Board put together information on how to put on a clinic that we will give to any independent shops that want to put on a clinic.
I'm very interested in Hybrid & Electric Cars. I truly feel they are coming down the pike whether we want them to or not.
