Hi!
My name is Pete Meier, and I've been turning wrenches for over 35 years now. I am an ASE CMAT, sponsoring member of IATN, and a certified instructor by both the NATTS and Polk County, Florida. I am also the 2006 "AC Technician of the Year", a contest sponsored by both the Mobile Air Conditioning Society and CarQuest. That beginning with MACS has led to working with them as a regional trainer, serving mostly Florida with the occassional visit to other Southeastern states.
Even though I work full-time as a tech, I also find time to write for a variety of industry trade publications. Most of my work has been with Motor Age...an association I am extremely proud of. I grew up with Motor Age and have learned alot from its pages. Now I have the opportunity, and the awesome responsibility, of returning the favor to the current generation of techs. I began a more dedicated relationship with the magazine in January, 2009 and am now the Technical Editor for the publication. This is a real opportunity for me to help you...the working technician...so tell me what you want to see in its pages. What systems and/or repairs give you fits? What do you like about the magazine and what would you like to see improved on?
Writing came about by accident. A few years ago, I had a problem with a Lexus EVAP code, and the lack of clarity in the service information I was using really ticked me off. So, I did my own research and wrote it all down...to keep in my toolbox for the next time. On a whim, I submitted it to see what would happen and here I am today, with several features and cover stories to my credit, as well as a book entitled Automotive Driveability: A Guide To Engine Performance Diagnosis.
I am as active as I can be here at the Workshop. My aim remains the same: to provide information the average tech can use to make his/her life easier in the bay.
Do me a favor and let me know how I'm doing....
