      <title>installing customer parts</title>
      <link>http://workshop.search-autoparts.com/_installing-customer-parts/blog/5848513/31710.html</link>
<description>We will install cust parts.&amp;nbsp; #1-because if we don't someone else will in our area, &amp;amp; I'd rather have the customer, but its a very small percentage (1 out of 100),&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; #2-we charge 50% more on out labor rate.&amp;nbsp; #3-we&amp;nbsp; Q&amp;amp;A briefly w/ the customer as to why he thinks he needs this, &amp;amp; then usually get some diagnosis time up front anyway, because they would rather have us diagnose &amp;amp; replace the correct part than install their part blindly &amp;amp; be wrong &amp;amp; have to pay us all over again to do it correctly.&amp;nbsp; #4-we also explain the general disclaimers, no warranties, no liabilities etc, put it in writing on the work order &amp;amp; have them sign it.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Thus far we haven't had any issues or pissed off customers in doing it this way in 33 yrs of business.&amp;nbsp; Most people that want us to use their parts is because they already bought them w/expectations of doing it themselves but decided against it, or they're just trying to save a few $.&amp;nbsp; But for the most part the understand we need to make a living too &amp;amp; our profit structures &amp;amp; warranties are all set up for us to provide the parts &amp;amp; make a profit on them.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; So I guess each shop has to decide for themselves what to do &amp;amp; how to go about it,&amp;nbsp; but this is how it has always worked for us, with good client retension on both sides of it, Rod</description>
